What's up?

Well - it's been a busy old few months, that's for sure. Now I'm looking to have a bit of a rest to sort myself out, regain my energy and see some of my friends. Work has been hectic, but good. I have just finished a daytime series on BBC 1.

HOUSECALL

Very different to my bike stuff but I can't tell you what fun it was! If you didn't catch one, it went out every day for eight weeks at 10am live. How can I describe it? Well, design, DIY, cookery, gardening, home styling, entertainment, all in one house in Birmingham. We changed the name to House Cool, as the show gained more of a cult status. Why the BBC publicity department keeps it a secret, I have no idea.

Now that the series has come to an end I miss it and the experts in the house. We all became great mates and had too much fun really: at times it was Carry on Housecall! Should be on a Friday night, live, there isn't another show like it on TV.

I couldn't believe that the Superbike boys used to watch it and really enjoyed the feel-good fun factor of it! Neil Hodgson, James Toseland and James Hayden all avid viewers! So many people apologised for watching it, apparently being embarrassed for not only watching the telly in the daytime, but actually enjoying it! I thought it was one of the coolest shows on television and one of the funniest, plus it had that live factor which always gives an edge.

Anyway, we'll be back mid January for another few weeks of mayhem!

Kerrang Awards!

So there I was in my Dainese red leather ball gown surrounded by men with a lot of strange facial hair, an obscene amount of hard alcohol and eardrum splitting noise! Stop me if you think I'm getting old, the radio 2 listener that I am! It was huge fun, as you can imagine! I took a sharp intake of breath when I was told that I was presenting an award to Slipknot, the lovelies who last year set the table on fire and had a huge brawl on stage, mmmm, just how spiky were my heels in case self defence was required? Just kidding, it was all a walk in the park really. Jordan sat on my table and somehow managed to set her hair on fire, poor thing. Before you ask, yes I did feel flat chested!!!

I can go with some of the tunes, OPM, Greenday, Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit and the odd bit of Linkin Park, but I will admit to spending most of the evening talking to Brian May who I love to pieces. Iggy Pop and Marilyn Manson were also there. It was the only awards ceremony I have ever been to where you don't eat and you have to literally hold your table up under the sheer weight of hard alcohol. We later partied at "Rock" at embankment, what a ridiculous but totally fabulous night! Cheers Kerrang!!!!!!!!

Grandstand Extras

Covered the Great North Run again this year in Newcastle. It's always fun and to see so many people raising money is inspirational. It's amazing I think, you can divide the world into givers and takers and it really was tremendous to see so much money being raised for such good causes. Thought Steve Ryder looked a little fitter this year too!

I also went to Rockingham to present the CART series. I shared the screen with Mark Blundell, but we both agreed that it certainly wasn't scintillating until the last lap anyway. Perhaps we were a little unlucky; other tracks can certainly churn out some spectacular action. Hopefully next year mistakes can be rectified and we'll see better racing.

Motorcycle News Awards

Held at the ICC in Birmingham, about 500 guests arrived looking chic in black tie and gowns (not at the same time obviously!). It seemed weird seeing all the boys dressed up! Rory Bremner was the host alongside Rob McDonnell the editor of the paper, I sat by Stephen Norris and it was great to see everyone. Marc Potter rode the Suzuki GSXR 1000 on to the stage as machine of the year and promptly did a burnout, I don't think Rory Bremner was that blown away by it all! Oh well!!!!!

Other Stuff

I've thankfully managed to keep my sanity in a world of tight schedules and little sleep by spending any spare time with my family in Wolverhampton and friends in London, Brighton and Southampton. So I will admit to a few nights on the town, the odd firework display and I even managed to have some mates round for dinner. Plus I've had the opportunity to see the Wolves play recently and we're doing rather well at the moment actually!
